Maintenance Manager - Mechanical

• Organize and manage the department’s human, financial and material resources to optimize the quality of its services and its technical and economic performance.
• Ensure optimum equipment availability and performance in the short, medium and long term at minimum cost.
• Implement and develop the Dangote Cement maintenance functions and mindset.
• Contributes to the overall performance improvement of the plant, ensuring coordination and cooperation between his and other departments.
• Set and share Maintenance Department short, medium and long-term goals and objectives in line with plant objectives.
• Define, follow up and optimize Maintenance expenses.
• Implement 10 golden rules for shutdown management
• Manage the performance of the maintenance department including effective use of key performance and leading indicators.
• Ensure adoption and adherence to Dangote Cement standards, norms and best practices
• Ensure the management of individual performance.
• Create and maintain a motivating work environment with the Maintenance department
• Build skill development programs for maintenance personnel and evaluate the results
• Ensure that safe work rules and practices are understood, implemented and consistently followed by the Maintenance department employees and sub- contractors.
• Ensure regulatory compliance of maintenance activities.
• Inform the maintenance community about the local best practices, difficulties and results.
• Contribute to the achievement of production, quality, environment, reliability and utilization targets.
• Contribute to the conception, acceptance and integration of new equipment and installations.
• Contribute to spares warehouse optimization (in cooperation with other departments concerned)
• Validate work requests.
• Propose and plan maintenance major operations.
• Contributes to the three-year investment plan.
• Elaborate and/or update equipment risk assessment.
• Keep himself informed of general plant practices to ensure on-call duty.
• Ensure strict compliance of maintenance operations with the Dangote Cement maintenance model: follow up inspection routes compliance, validate work request coming from field, ensure good level of planning for work orders, coordinate work orders scheduling with production and ensure good quality of execution.
• Develop a condition based preventive maintenance culture on day to day basis finding solutions to reduce reactive maintenance (promotes cost functional Root Cause Analysis of incidents and drives implementation of solutions)
• Implement action plans issued from Reliability Committee (Best Practice).
• Ensure good quality of communication with other departments.

Requirements

• Engineering degree specialized in Mechanical engineering or equivalent. 20-25 years’ experience in maintenance in cement manufacture
• A Member of EIZ
• Proven skills managing people (at least two years as head of Maintenance department).
• Experience developing / implementing preventive and predictive maintenance processes is highly desirable (i.e.: ten years of experience as Execution engineer)

Skills and Competencies

• Good knowledge of products and manufacturing processes (experience as plant engineer desirable)
• In-depth knowledge of maintenance management methods, of predictive inspection tools and of CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System, good knowledge of SAP Template desirable).
• Knowledge of Downtime analysis and good knowledge of problem solving tools.
• Knowledge of general mechanical/electrical engineering and industrial automation,
• Knowledge of safety laws and regulations, Computer literacy.
