What you’ll be doing
Bao Cafe in New Kasama, Lusaka is expanding its professional team and is seeking a capable Cafe Manager to oversee daily operations while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, customer service, and team performance.
The Cafe Manager will coordinate front-of-house and back-of-house activities, support an efficient service environment, and help ensure a consistent experience for every guest.
The successful candidate will be hands-on, organized, commercially aware, and committed to building a reliable team and a welcoming cafe.

- Manage daily cafe operations, opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and service flow.
- Supervise, schedule, train, and motivate cafe staff to deliver professional and friendly service.
- Monitor food preparation, presentation, portion control, stock usage, and product availability.
- Maintain strict hygiene, sanitation, health, and safety standards across the cafe.
- Manage inventory, coordinate replenishment, reduce wastage, and communicate purchasing needs.
- Handle customer feedback and resolve operational issues promptly and professionally.
- Prepare routine operational reports and support the achievement of sales and service goals.

What we’re looking for
- Proven ability to supervise daily cafe, restaurant, or hospitality operations.
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene, sanitation, health, and workplace safety procedures.
- Experience with staff scheduling, task delegation, coaching, and performance follow-up.
- Practical understanding of stock control, ordering, portion control, wastage reduction, and basic cost management.
- Confident customer service and complaint-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage cash handling, point-of-sale processes, daily reconciliations, and operational records.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a busy service environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Working knowledge of common office and point-of-sale systems is an advantage.
